THE TRI50 COACHES

Jo Lewis

Jo Lewis

British Triathlon Federation (BTF) Level 3 Coach | ASA Level 3 | NOWCA Coach | NSCR Spin Instructor | Older Adults Exercise Prescription

Tri50, run by Jo Lewis, is celebrating 13 years of successfully coaching mature athletes of all abilities. The coaching business was originally set up by two BTF Level 3 Triathlon Coaches, Jo and Beate, both international GB Age Grouper competitors, with a passion for sharing their vast experience as professional coaches over many years.

Jo has been coaching for 37 years, and is as passionate about her coaching now, as she was in 1985!

Jo, now proud to be of State Pension Age, appreciates that staying healthy and injury free as we mature in age, are so important for physical and mental wellbeing.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and coaching skills to all her clients, and loves working alongside those who perhaps have lost their nerve on the bike through an unfortunate accident, or panic at the thought of swimming in cold and murky water.

As we age we place obstacles (or excuses) in our way and then regret what we haven’t achieved or simply haven’t had the confidence or courage to do.

Sounds familiar?

Jo has further developed her enthusiasm for the Sport, with 20 years of  being a highly competitive Triathlete, travelling internationally to compete.
She has earned 11 World and European podium medals, 4 of these as either World or European Champion.
Our bodies, especially ageing ones, undergo noticeable but subtle changes over years of training – waning metabolism, skeletal frailties, and muscular deterioration, with the likelihood of incurring injuries caused by insufficient supportive Strength & Conditioning.
Jo well understands the importance of ample recovery, quality sleep and nutrition to balance the training demands imposed by athletes, and provides Bespoke Coaching for those with specific training/racing goals.

Currently, she is proud to be coaching eight GB Age Groupers, with different aims on the racing front – Triathlon, Aquathlon, Otillo, through to Middle and Long Distance events – Marathons, Sportives, Cycle Challenges, Ironman, Long Distance swims.

A close-knit relationship develops with the athlete, which goes through peaks and troughs of success, disappointment, and careful negotiation!!

Above all, Jo has a huge, bubbly personality and endless energy. She has always remained positive in her coaching approach, 100% reliable, and empathetic to those clients who experience the inevitable wobble or blip with their training.

It’s Life …………

Jo inspires and motivates all those people she comes into contact with, and is fondly known as a Fit Old Bird!!
