Tri Training at Wellington College

Suited to all Duathletes and Triathletes – the perfect weekend either at the end of the race season or as we go into a new race season – all the training tips you could ever want from the experienced and successful Tri50 Coaches – learn from them, as well as from your fellow Course athletes. Coaching will be provided across all Triathlon disciplines, as well as Core Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, and ideas on how to balance your own training alongside work, family and travel commitments. Beautiful venue and surrounding countryside have to be tried for yourselves – just the ticket.

Itinerary

Itinerary to be confirmed.  The itinerary shown below is from the Spring 2016 camp.

Friday

From 4pm – Arrival at venue and check into rooms from 4pm

5pm – Optional social run on college grounds and cross country (light permitting)

7pm – Dinner

8pm – Welcome, Introduction and Briefing

Saturday

7.30 – 9am – Swim Session, Technique and Stroke Development, Filming

9.30am – Breakfast

10.30am – 11.30am – Review of past triathlon season and look ahead to next year

11.45am – 12.45pm – Run technique and drills

1pm – Lunch

2pm – 3.30pm – Bikeability: bike handling skills

3.30pm – Tea Break

4pm – 5pm – Sports Nutrition with food diary analysis

6.30pm – Dinner  followed by debrief of the day and discussion of next day’s agenda

7.30pm – 9pm – Swim Video analysis and discussion around the day’s events

Sunday

7 – 8.30 am – Swim Session, Endurance, speed development (CSS)

9am – Breakfast

10.15am – 11.30 am – Group bike ride

11.45 am  – 12.45 pm – Strength and Conditioning – triathlon specific

1pm – Lunch

2pm – 3.30pm – Winter Training Plan development

3.30 – 4 pm – Q&A and debrief

4pm – Departure

What to bring

  • Comfortable clothes and shoes for during theory sessions and meals
  • Pad and pen to make some notes
  • Toiletry kit
  • Sun screen (Let’s be optimistic!)
  • Sun glasses
  • Your favourite energy drink, bar, gel, snacks
Swim Sessions
  • Bathing costume, swimming trunks or tri suit
  • Goggles
  • Swim hat
  • Flip flops or similar pool side shoes
  • Swim equipment: kickboard, pullbuoy, fins, hand paddles
  • Wetsuit (if you have one)
  • Towel
  • Fleece or warm top and bottom to change
Bike Sessions
  • Roadworthy bike with tyres pumped up and brakes working
  • Triathlon or bike shoes with cleats (if you have those)
  • Helmet
  • Bike gloves
  • Glasses
  • Triathlon or bike shorts
  • Cycle jersey
  • Windbreaker or rain jacket (just in case)
  • Water bottle
  • Spare inner tube, pump, 2 tyre levers, multi-tool
  • Bike lights
Run Sessions

  • Jog bra (if applicable)
  • Socks
  • Windbreaker or rain jacket
